The Leicestershire market town of Market Bosworth is located due north of Hinckley and due west of Leicester. It is steeped in history, and is especially famous for the Battle of Bosworth which took place in the south of the town in 1485. The battle marked the end of the Wars of the Roses. In more peaceful times the town staged a race meeting which was advertised in the Stamford Mercury on Thursday 30th August 1722. The two day meeting took place on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th September 1722, with race details shown below.
